This 3 -hour course meets all the firearm safety training requirements of the Illinois Code Chapter 430 Section 66/75 Firearm Concealed Carry Act. Topics of focus include intensive lessons on the legal requirements and restrictions associated with carrying a concealed firearm in the State of Illinois. 

Individual instruction is valuable to new shooters and seasoned shooters alike. Lessons can include nearly any firearm related skill, including concealed carry system proficiency, safe gun handling skills, and refining the fundamentals of shooting.

The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. To become a NRA Range Safety Officer, you must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

If you’re ready to become your family’s first responder in all emergency situations, this training cannot be missed. During this training, you’ll do more than simply sit in a classroom learning about these topics, our knowledgeable and experienced instructors will work you through a dozen real world scenarios using simulated patients and the actual products (or field expedients) that you’ll need to understand if you hope to save a life.

This 5-hour course continues to refine the skills learned in Module 2, and expands on those skillsets. Topics covered include, as always, safe and efficient gun-handling, rapidly changing gears in acceptable sight picture and firing cadence based on target distance/size, strong-hand-only and weak-hand-only shooting, increasing precision-on-demand, and movement to cover/use of cover. This course includes 300 rounds of live-fire on the range, and involves drawing from the holster.

Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals is a comprehensive course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense. Countering the Mass Shooter Threat is a curriculum which focuses on a study of compiled data from a wide body of active shooter incidents. Using what we know about mass shooters, we can make a plan to save lives.

This course exposes students to several schools of thought regarding defensive handgun shooting techniques. This course is designed for beginning and intermediate handgun shooters. Unlike other basic handgun shooting courses that traditionally focus on handgun marksmanship skills, this course is designed to develop a student’s self-defense handgun shooting skills from a position of cover within their home.

Advanced Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals is a course for the experienced armed woman who is ready to use her carried handgun to defend herself and her loved ones. This course expands on the lessons learned in the Intermediate Women's Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals Course.

Essential CCW Skills Module 1 is a foundational course for those wanting to graduate from punching paper to training to protect their lives. Learn safe and responsible gun handling, defensive shooting skills, and deliberate dry-fire and live-fire practice techniques you need to start your defensive pistol training journey.

Learn the basics of carrying and shooting your handgun from the holster in this introductory seminar. Learn about gear option, and the safe, responsible and efficient way to draw your gun, acquire your target, and re-holster your firearm.

Who should attend this course?

Any upstanding and responsible woman who wants to defend herself and her family with a handgun. There are no prerequisites for this course, handgun ownership is not required.

Basic Women’s Handgun and Self-Defense Fundamentals is an introductory class. If you are brand new to firearms, this course is for you. Topics covered include:

Everything you need for the course is available for rent or purchase at Davenport Guns, but you are encouraged to bring your own serviceable and safe firearms and gear if you have them

The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is designed to meet the basic handgun shooting needs of all individuals regardless of gun ownership status, previous shooting experience. This course is an excellent starting point for the new or soon-to-be handgun owners, applicants for concealed carry weapon permits or the seasoned shooter looking to become a more proficient handgun shooter. 

This 5-hour course is a deep-dive into the elements of legal self defense as they apply to Illinois law, includes video analyses of real use of force encounters, examples, scenarios, and more.

Davenport Guns & Shooting Club introduces beginners to pistols and small caliber rifles, giving them the foundation needed for a safe and enjoyable shooting experience. Developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the program provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to shooting by qualified instructors that includes firearm safety, local ownership requirements, shooting fundamentals, hands-on instruction and how and where to continue.
