Students should expect to leave this class with a better understanding of how to employ a slide mounted MRDS (Mini Red Dot System) on a pistol, the history of the system, advantages and drawbacks, and selection criteria. This course will benefit anyone willing to learn about selecting a red dot, how to aim as required with them, and the beginning steps of practicing with them.
Students who enroll in this course must be able to load and unload their firearms to make them safe, clear malfunctions, and understand the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, all of which are covered in our Basic Pistol 1 & 2 classes.
This course is also recommended as an intermediary between Basic Pistol 2 and Defensive Pistol.

Finding Dot from Presentation
Dry Firing, watching for dot movement and what direction
Settled dot shooting at smaller targets
Presenting with an acceptable sight picture, avoiding freezing at the end of presentation
Rapid firing, testing dot movement and behavior. Is it returning? Direction? Etc.
Shooting occluded dot, maintaining target focus
Shooting techniques with no dot (backplate, guillotine, or line on optic)
Shooting to see where the dot is (immediately at presentation even if not visible)
One handed shooting
What to bring:
A pistol with a slide mounted red dot sight
A MINIMUM of three magazines. This is a higher round count course and time will be wasted without the ability to quickly reload the pistol in longer strings of fire.
