This course is for shooters that would like to learn about defensive shotguns and their use as a home defense firearm. This is an introductory level course.

▪ Shooting Fundamentals (four points of contact, stance, sight alignment)

Prerequisites
· 18-years-old and older is recommended. Under 18 years old must be accompanied by a legal guardian and be able to demonstrate a learning attitude and physical ability to safely handle a firearm.
· An Independence Range Waiver must be completed before class begins

Course duration: 3-4 hours Cost: $125 Class Capacity: 6 students maximum CLASS HAS STRICT EQUIPMENT AND AMMUNITION REQUIREMENTS: PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION BEFORE REGISTERING This course is designed for shotguns with sticks and tubular magazines, similar to Mossberg 500/590, Remington 870, and Beretta 1301. Topics will include: Safety Types of defensive shotguns and nomenclature Fundamentals including proper stance, points of contact, sighting systems and alignment Ammunition - Gauge and shot types Loading/Unloading Patterning a defensive shotgun and recoil management Common misconceptions and myths Live Fire Required items to bring: Eye and ear protection 12 or 20 gauge defensive shotgun 50 rounds of 0, 00, or 000 buckshot in the appropriate gauge, or defensive slugs. Anything below this size is not allowed on the range; ammo will be double checked by the instructor A great attitude and willingness to learn Please ensure your range waiver is completed before class.
